Javaabu unveils Dhivehi-speaking AI agent “Hajja” at Thanavvaa event

Malé, Maldives, 22 July 2023 Javaabu has introduced “Hajja,” a Dhivehi-speaking AI agent showcased to the public at the Thanavvaa event held at Hulhumalé Central Park. Hajja is designed to understand and respond entirely in Dhivehi, marking a notable step in the development of local-language AI technologies.

According to Javaabu, Hajja is an early but promising demonstration of how Dhivehi-language AI can evolve. The company sees this as foundational work that strengthens the connection between Dhivehi and modern digital innovation.

CEO Mohamed Jailam explained that Javaabu’s own speech technologies — including Dhivehi speech-to-text and text-to-speech systems — have been integrated into Hajja to enable smooth, natural interaction. He noted that the company plans to develop additional products built on the same technology, expanding what’s possible for Dhivehi AI.

Jailam added that these advancements could play a transformative role in how Maldivians engage with AI systems in the years ahead. For Javaabu, Hajja represents another step toward creating practical tools that make everyday digital experiences more accessible and convenient for Dhivehi speakers.
