Javaabu partners with Mihaaru to introduce accessible Dhivehi audio news

Javaabu has announced a new partnership with Mihaaru to make Dhivehi news more accessible through an audio news service. The launch coincides with Mihaaru’s seventh anniversary, where the newspaper introduced a feature that allows readers to listen to full articles directly on the site.

Mihaaru’s team described the feature as a major step towards improving accessibility. It is designed to support readers who prefer audio, as well as those who may have difficulty reading text on screen. The audio plays within seconds of an article being published, giving users an immediate and convenient way to keep up with the news.

The system was developed by Javaabu, and Managing Director Mohamed Jailam said the collaboration marks an important moment for Dhivehi-language technology. He added that the ability to listen to articles while multitasking will bring new convenience for readers, and that the feature will continue to evolve with further improvements planned.

The partnership reflects both organisations’ shared goal of modernising access to information and ensuring Dhivehi content remains prominent in digital platforms. Javaabu confirmed that more updates to the audio service will be introduced as development continues.
