Javaabu Unveils Uthahi Waste Management Database at National Conference in Laamu Atoll

Javaabu took the spotlight at the Magey Saafu Raajje Conference in Laamu Atoll as Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Jailam formally presented the newly developed Uthahi Waste Management Database, a system commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment. The platform represents a major step forward in modernising waste management operations nationwide.

The system integrates multiple technological components aimed at improving real-time monitoring, operational efficiency, and public engagement across the waste management sector. Among its capabilities are:

  • Live tracking of waste collection

  • Route optimisation for drivers

  • Emissions monitoring

  • Advanced analytics for waste inflow and outflow

In addition to supporting operational teams, the database also includes public-facing features such as a citizen app for geotagged issue reporting and awareness tools designed to strengthen community involvement in sustainability efforts.

The platform further provides dashboards for facility monitoring, tools for tracking waste processing activities, and systems to oversee equipment and resource availability, offering a comprehensive digital framework for both field and administrative operations.

Javaabu emphasised that the initiative aligns with national goals to build a cleaner and more sustainable Maldives, positioning technology at the centre of long-term environmental management.
