Ahmed Yameen

Machine Learning Research Engineer

Yameen joined Javaabu in 2024 as a Machine Learning Research Engineer, with a focused, high-impact mandate: to stay at the forefront of artificial intelligence research and translate cutting-edge advancements into practical, production-ready solutions.

With over seven years of industry experience, Yameen serves as the team’s primary AI research scout, closely tracking daily developments across the rapidly evolving AI landscape and sharing critical insights with the wider engineering and research teams. This continuous flow of knowledge directly informs his technical work, where he has played a central role in the development and optimization of Javaabu’s Text-to-Speech (TTS), Speech-to-Text (STT), and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems, as well as a wide range of other AI models.

Yameen’s work spans the full research lifecycle, including the creation of large-scale training datasets—such as synthetic OCR datasets, text corpora for TTS, and speech datasets—model training, optimization, and deployment. He has extensive experience in low-latency AI systems, including the development of edge-deployed TTS models, and has contributed to live AI agents used in production environments. He is an active member of the Javaabu AI Research Group, working across multiple natural language processing (NLP) and applied AI research topics.

His research and engineering contributions have directly enabled new AI features in DhivehiGPT, now actively used by over 100,000 users, translating advanced research into real-world, large-scale impact.

Yameen is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science at Cyrx College, alongside his professional work.

Prior to joining Javaabu, Yameen worked at the Maldives Customs Service, where he developed AI-driven solutions for HS code recommendation, AI-assisted valuation, and data analysis pipelines, gaining experience applying machine learning in complex, high-stakes government systems.

Technically, Yameen is highly proficient in Python, Cython, and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), and is comfortable operating across research, engineering, and data-intensive environments.

Beyond research and development, Yameen actively contributes to AI capacity building at Javaabu. He serves as a facilitator for AI literacy and training workshops and has mentored students from Ghiyasuddin School through the Javaabu–Ghiyasuddin School work experience program, supporting the development of local AI talent.

Outside of work, Yameen brings the same discipline and strategic thinking to his personal pursuits. He is a competitive chess player, with victories in local tournaments, and an endurance athlete who regularly participates in marathons.

Through deep technical expertise, applied research, and a strong commitment to knowledge sharing, Yameen continues to play a key role in advancing Javaabu’s AI innovation and the Maldives’ growing AI ecosystem.
