Javaabu has announced DhivehiVaahaka.com, a new digital platform built to bring Dhivehi writers and readers together while creating new opportunities for local storytellers to earn from their work.
Developed after months of planning and work, the platform is designed around one of the Maldives’ most beloved forms of literature: Dhivehi stories. DhivehiVaahaka.com aims to make local fiction easier to discover, read and listen to, while giving writers a practical way to publish and monetize their stories online.
Development of the platform was led by Javaabu Co-Founder and CEO Mohamed Jailam, who is closely involved in Javaabu’s product strategy and the development of new digital products.
A New Reading Experience
DhivehiVaahaka.com offers stories in an episodic format, allowing readers to follow series chapter by chapter. The first two episodes of every story are available free of charge, with subsequent episodes available to unlock for MVR 5 each.
Readers can either read stories traditionally or listen to them using DhivehiGPT Text-to-Speech. The listening experience includes real-time, word-level highlighting as the audio plays, combining Dhivehi speech technology with an accessible and immersive reading experience.
The feature builds on Javaabu’s continued development of Dhivehi-language speech technology through DhivehiGPT, which released its next-generation Text-to-Speech service in July 2026.
Creating Opportunities for Dhivehi Writers
A major focus of DhivehiVaahaka.com is helping establish a sustainable creator economy around Dhivehi literature. During the initial launch, authors will receive 60% of the earnings generated from each paid episode read.
