Javaabu Conducts First AI Training Session for Ministry of Higher Education under CSC MoU

Javaabu has successfully conducted the first artificial intelligence (AI) training session under its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), marking the official launch of a nationwide AI upskilling programme for civil servants.

The inaugural session was held for staff of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development at the Umar Zahir Building. Around 20 staff members participated in the three-hour training session, which focused on building AI literacy and demonstrating practical workplace applications relevant to the public sector.

The session was facilitated by Mohamed Jailam, Co-Founder and CEO of Javaabu, who delivered a structured and hands-on programme aimed at helping civil servants confidently and responsibly adopt AI tools in their day-to-day work.

Key Areas Covered During the Session

  • The AI Foundation – understanding core AI concepts and current capabilities

  • Mastering AI tools and techniques to improve productivity

  • Using AI effectively in the Dhivehi language for administrative and communication tasks

  • Responsible AI use, ethics, and strategic adoption within government institutions

Participants were introduced to a range of modern generative AI tools and platforms, including productive AI workflows, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and DhivehiGPT. Demonstrations and discussions were tailored to real-world civil service use cases, emphasising efficiency, accuracy, and responsible usage.

The session was well received by participants, who expressed strong interest in applying the tools and techniques learned to enhance productivity and streamline routine tasks within their respective departments.

Our goal is to help civil servants see AI as a trusted partner at work — one that supports better outcomes, smarter workflows, and more impactful public service.

This first training session sets the foundation for the broader AI training programme to be delivered under the Javaabu–CSC partnership, with further sessions planned for ministries and island councils across the Maldives in the months ahead.
