Javaabu Pvt Ltd has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education to develop a Dhivehi Screen Reading Software aimed at supporting blind and visually impaired students across the country.
The agreement, signed today, marks a significant step toward improving accessibility and ensuring that all students—regardless of disability—gain equitable access to learning technologies. The initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Inclusive Education.
The project positions Javaabu at the forefront of national digital accessibility efforts, becoming one of the first local companies to engineer a comprehensive screen-reading solution tailored specifically for the Dhivehi language. The software will be designed to interpret on-screen content and provide audio output, enabling visually impaired learners to navigate digital platforms with independence.
According to the Department of Inclusive Education, the partnership with Javaabu reflects a broader national push to advance inclusive education technologies. The department emphasized the importance of enabling students with special needs to participate more actively in the modern digital learning environment.
Javaabu expressed enthusiasm for the project, describing it as a landmark opportunity to produce a tool that will have lasting social impact. The company stated that it looks forward to delivering an outstanding product and contributing meaningfully to the country’s efforts in strengthening inclusive education.
