A two-day professional development workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) was conducted by Javaabu for teachers of Iskandhar School on March 3–4, 2026, at the school premises. Around 100 teachers participated in the programme, which introduced practical ways AI tools can support both teaching and administrative work in schools.
Each day consisted of a three-hour interactive session combining introductory explanations with hands-on activities. The first day focused on helping teachers understand how AI works and how modern AI tools can be used productively in everyday tasks. Participants explored widely used platforms such as Gemini and ChatGPT, learning how these tools can assist with lesson planning, generating teaching materials, drafting communications, and supporting routine administrative responsibilities. Teachers were encouraged to experiment directly with the tools and explore practical use cases relevant to the classroom environment.
The second day focused on the use of AI in the Dhivehi language through DhivehiGPT, Javaabu’s Dhivehi-language AI platform. Teachers received hands-on experience using several DhivehiGPT capabilities including Dhivehi text generation, speech-to-text (STT), and optical character recognition (OCR). The session demonstrated how AI can support the creation of Dhivehi educational materials, help digitise printed content, and improve accessibility of Dhivehi-language resources for teaching and learning.
The workshop was facilitated by Mohamed Jailam, Co-Founder and CEO of Javaabu, together with Ahmed Yameen, Machine Learning Research Engineer at Javaabu. The sessions were conducted as part of Javaabu’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at supporting digital literacy and capacity building within the education sector.
The programme received a very positive response from participating teachers, many of whom expressed enthusiasm about applying the tools and techniques introduced during the sessions in their teaching preparation and daily workflows. Javaabu extends its sincere appreciation to Iskandhar School for the opportunity to work with its teaching staff and support their continued professional development in emerging technologies.
