Javaabu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maldives Heritage Society, a registered Maldivian non-governmental organization dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and promotion of the cultural and natural heritage of the Maldives.
The agreement was signed on 7 June 2026 at the Javaabu office. Javaabu was represented by Mohamed Jailam, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, while Maldives Heritage Society was represented by its President, Thoha AbuBakur.
Under the MoU, Javaabu will provide Maldives Heritage Society with free access to DhivehiGPT to support its administrative work and provide information related to the Dhivehi language. The collaboration also creates opportunities for Maldives Heritage Society to contribute to Javaabu’s research in Dhivehi language artificial intelligence through linguistic and cultural expertise.
Maldives Heritage Society works with local councils, schools, government institutions, NGOs, and community stakeholders to strengthen heritage awareness and protection across the country. Its initiatives include safeguarding heritage sites, promoting local history and traditions, supporting youth engagement, and encouraging sustainable environmental stewardship.
In addition to heritage conservation, the Society is actively engaged in climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability efforts, including community-based tree planting programs, coastal and environmental awareness campaigns, heritage and nature trails, and eco-tourism-focused education. The Society also works with the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and NGOs on environmental monitoring activities and the Sea Turtle Guardian Program in Laamu Gaadhoo.
Through this partnership, Javaabu and Maldives Heritage Society will explore ways to strengthen Dhivehi language AI research while supporting the preservation of Maldivian culture, language, and heritage for future generations.
