President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Visit Javaabu’s DhivehiGPT and Dhivehi Vaahaka Stall at Maldives Expo 2026

President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed visited Javaabu’s DhivehiGPT and Dhivehi Vaahaka exhibition stall at Maldives Expo 2026 on 27 October 2026. Located in the Digital and Innovation District at Hulhumalé Central Park, the stall showcased Javaabu’s latest developments in Dhivehi artificial intelligence and digital storytelling.

During the visit, Javaabu Co-Founder and CEO Mohamed Jailam introduced the First Couple to Dhivehi Vaahaka, while Co-Founder and CTO Arushad Ahmed demonstrated Javaabu’s latest interactive AI innovation — Haamaan, a real-time digital avatar powered by DhivehiGPT.

Showcasing the Future of Dhivehi Storytelling

Jailam explained the features of Dhivehi Vaahaka, Javaabu’s digital storytelling platform designed to connect Maldivian writers and readers while creating new opportunities for local content creators. He also demonstrated the platform’s latest Drama Reels feature, which brings Dhivehi stories to life through visual scenes, expressive narration, and character dialogues in an engaging short-form video experience.

The demonstration came on the same day that Javaabu officially launched the DhivehiVaahaka mobile app, introducing the Maldives’ first Dhivehi Drama Reels experience alongside reading, listening, and offline storytelling features. The platform combines traditional Dhivehi literature with modern digital entertainment, helping local stories reach new audiences.

President Interacts with Haamaan, Javaabu’s AI Digital Avatar

One of the highlights of the visit was the demonstration of Haamaan, an interactive digital avatar developed by Javaabu using DhivehiGPT technology. Arushad introduced the avatar to the First Couple, with President Dr Muizzu personally interacting with Haamaan and experiencing its conversational capabilities firsthand.

Haamaan was developed by Javaabu Creative Multimedia Designer Mohamed Anaadh Hussain (Annu), who was responsible for the custom 3D modelling and real-time digital avatar pipeline. By integrating these components with DhivehiGPT’s artificial intelligence technology, Annu created an interactive character capable of engaging with people through natural Dhivehi conversations.

Beyond conversational AI, Haamaan also features vision capabilities, allowing the avatar to incorporate visual information into its interactions. This combination of real-time animation, speech technologies, and visual understanding demonstrates how locally developed AI can power more immersive and engaging digital experiences.

The avatar uses the iconic Haamaan voice licensed from Public Service Media (PSM), building on the voice licensing agreement signed between Javaabu and PSM in September 2026. The collaboration brings familiar voices from Maldivian broadcasting heritage into modern AI applications while recognising the importance of local intellectual property.

Haamaan has also become a popular attraction at Javaabu’s Maldives Expo 2026 stall, with members of the public enjoying fun and memorable interactions with the character. The experience highlights the potential of combining culturally familiar characters with emerging technologies to make artificial intelligence more approachable and engaging for Maldivian audiences.

Supporting the Maldives’ Digital and Creative Economy Vision

The innovations showcased during the visit reflect Javaabu’s commitment to supporting President Dr Muizzu’s vision of expanding the Maldives’ digital and creative economies. The President has outlined a national ambition for the digital and creative economies to contribute 15% of the country’s GDP by 2030, emphasising the importance of homegrown innovation, entrepreneurship, and opportunities for Maldivian creators.

Through DhivehiGPT, Javaabu is developing locally relevant artificial intelligence technologies that support the Dhivehi language, while Dhivehi Vaahaka is creating opportunities for writers, storytellers, and creative professionals to participate in the growing digital economy. Innovations such as Haamaan further demonstrate the possibilities of bringing together AI, multimedia design, local intellectual property, and creative talent.

The visit also follows Javaabu’s recent double victory at Maldives Expo 2026, where DhivehiGPT secured 1st Place in the ICT Sector Artificial Intelligence Sub-category, while Dhivehi Vaahaka earned 2nd Place in the ICT Sector Other Sub-category. The awards recognise Javaabu’s continued contributions to locally developed technology and digital innovation.

Javaabu previously welcomed President Dr Muizzu to its exhibition stall at Maldives Expo 2025, where the team showcased its earlier Dhivehi AI developments. The latest visit provided another opportunity to demonstrate the progress made over the past year, including new AI capabilities and the expansion into digital storytelling and interactive entertainment.

A Memorable Visit for Team Javaabu

The Javaabu team extends its sincere gratitude to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed for taking the time to visit the DhivehiGPT and Dhivehi Vaahaka stall and explore the innovations developed by the team.

Their visit was a meaningful moment for Javaabu and its team of Maldivian developers and creatives, reinforcing the importance of nurturing local talent and building technologies that serve the country’s language, culture, and future digital economy.

Javaabu also extends its appreciation to the organisers of Maldives Expo 2026 for providing a platform to showcase homegrown innovations and connect with the wider community. The team looks forward to continuing its work in making artificial intelligence and digital creativity more accessible, meaningful, and impactful for Maldivians.
