Javaabu Wins Two Awards at Maldives Expo 2026 for DhivehiGPT and Dhivehi Vaahaka

Javaabu Wins Two Awards at Maldives Expo 2026 for DhivehiGPT and Dhivehi Vaahaka

Javaabu has secured two prestigious awards at Maldives Expo 2026, with its flagship artificial intelligence platform DhivehiGPT winning 1st Place in the ICT Sector Artificial Intelligence Sub-category, and its digital storytelling platform Dhivehi Vaahaka earning 2nd Place in the ICT Sector Other Sub-category.

The awards were presented at the Maldives Expo 2026 awards ceremony held at Barceló Nasandhura, recognising outstanding locally developed products and innovations.

Javaabu Co-Founder and CEO Mohamed Jailam received the 2nd Place award in the ICT Sector Other Sub-category on behalf of Dhivehi Vaahaka.

Javaabu Co-Founder and CTO Arushad Ahmed received the 1st Place award in the ICT Sector Artificial Intelligence Sub-category for DhivehiGPT.

The double victory marks another important milestone for Javaabu, highlighting the company's continued efforts to develop meaningful digital products that support the Dhivehi language, empower local creators, and make technology more accessible to Maldivians.

Recognising Innovation in Dhivehi AI and Digital Storytelling

DhivehiGPT, Javaabu's flagship Dhivehi artificial intelligence platform, has grown into a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools designed specifically for the Dhivehi language. The platform offers intelligent chat, optical character recognition (OCR), speech transcription, text-to-speech, and other productivity features, helping individuals, businesses, and organisations benefit from artificial intelligence in their native language.

The first-place recognition follows a year of significant progress for DhivehiGPT. In February 2026, the platform surpassed 100,000 registered users, and by July, it had processed more than 3 million prompts, demonstrating growing adoption of locally developed AI technology.

Recent technological advancements include the release of a next-generation Dhivehi text-to-speech service with seven new voices and a partnership with Public Service Media (PSM) to bring iconic Maldivian voices to the platform. Most recently, DhivehiGPT launched its second-generation OCR system, featuring purpose-built AI models that achieved up to seven times fewer recognition errors than leading general-purpose AI models in Javaabu's internal benchmarks.

Meanwhile, Dhivehi Vaahaka represents Javaabu's efforts to support Dhivehi literature and digital storytelling. The platform connects readers and writers through an accessible digital experience, allowing users to discover and enjoy episodic stories while providing writers with tools to publish their work, build an audience, and earn from their creativity.

One of Dhivehi Vaahaka's distinctive features is its integration with DhivehiGPT's text-to-speech technology, enabling readers to listen to stories in Dhivehi with real-time word highlighting. By combining literature with modern technology, the platform aims to make Dhivehi storytelling more accessible while supporting a sustainable digital creator economy.

The recognition of both products reflects Javaabu's broader commitment to building technologies that not only advance innovation but also strengthen the presence of the Dhivehi language and Maldivian creativity in the digital world.

Building on Success at Maldives Expo 2025

This year's achievements build on Javaabu's successful participation at Maldives Expo 2025, where DhivehiGPT secured three awards, including 1st Place in the AI & Electronics Sub-category, 2nd Place in the ICT Main Category, and 3rd Place in the Business Sector.

During last year's expo, Javaabu also operated an interactive exhibition stall at Hulhumalé Central Park, where visitors explored DhivehiGPT's capabilities, interacted with its AI avatar Kaidha, and received promotional credits. The stall attracted considerable public interest, including a visit from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who was briefed on Javaabu's developments in Dhivehi artificial intelligence.

Returning to the expo in 2026 with two award-winning products reflects the company's continued progress in expanding its technology portfolio, from artificial intelligence into new digital experiences for Maldivian audiences.
