Javaabu participated in the inaugural stakeholders’ meeting (Mashvaara) of the Collective Impact Platform (CIP) on Digital Learning, organized by UNICEF Maldives on 16 April 2026 at H. Thuniya Building in Malé. The session brought together key stakeholders to collaboratively shape the future of digital learning in the Maldives.
Representing Javaabu at the meeting were Co-Founders Mohamed Jailam and Arushad Ahmed, who joined a diverse group of participants including representatives from Women in Tech Maldives, Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), Ministry of Education, Inclusive Education Department, National Institute of Education (NIE), and Maldives National University (MNU). The session was facilitated by UNICEF Maldives Education Officer for Digital Learning, Sushil Upreti.
The meeting introduced the concept of the Collective Impact Platform (CIP), highlighting the need for stronger coordination among stakeholders in the digital learning ecosystem. While multiple organizations are actively investing in digital learning initiatives across the Maldives, discussions emphasized that these efforts remain fragmented. CIP aims to address this gap by fostering a shared vision, common agenda, and structured collaboration among stakeholders.
During the stakeholder mapping and group discussions, participants explored existing roles, identified gaps, and contributed to shaping a unified problem statement and long-term vision for digital learning in the Maldives.
Arushad shared insights into Javaabu’s ongoing contributions to the digital learning sector. He highlighted platforms such as the Javaabu Academy eLearning Platform, the Filaa Online Learning Resources Platform developed during the COVID-19 pandemic for the Ministry of Education, and the Kiyeveni eLearning Platform for the Local Government Authority (LGA). He also noted Javaabu’s work in developing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Management Systems for various institutions, as well as capacity-building programs conducted for schools. Additionally, he emphasized the role of AI technologies, including DhivehiGPT, in supporting teachers and advancing inclusive education.
Jailam highlighted Javaabu’s ongoing collaboration with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to conduct AI training programs, as well as efforts to produce accessible eLearning content. He underscored the importance of establishing national digital learning policies and standards to ensure consistency and scalability. Jailam also shared updates on Javaabu’s work in developing AI-assisted learning platforms aimed at enhancing educational outcomes.
The session concluded with reflections on priority areas for the CIP and a shared commitment to continued collaboration among stakeholders. The platform is expected to play a key role in aligning efforts and maximizing the impact of digital learning initiatives across the country.
Javaabu extends its sincere appreciation to UNICEF Maldives for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this important national initiative.
