Javaabu ML Research Engineer Ahmed Yameen Wins MVP Award at STO Boduriyaa Championship 2026

Javaabu Machine Learning Research Engineer Ahmed Yameen has been awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title at the STO Boduriyaa Championship 2026, a team chess competition organized by Castle Chess Club and Academy.

The championship was held from 7th to 9th May 2026 at the Indoor Sports Complex Chess Arcade in Hulhumalé, bringing together some of the country’s strongest chess clubs and players for a seven-round rapid team competition played under a 15-minute format with a 10-second increment per move.

Representing Castle Chess Club and Academy, Yameen delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament, finishing with six wins and zero defeats. His consistent results played a major role in helping Castle Chess Club secure 3rd place overall in the championship.

The competition featured several of the country’s top chess clubs, with Club Double Eight claiming the championship title and Zugzwang Chess Club finishing in second place. Castle Chess Club and Academy earned third place after a strong performance across all seven rounds.

Yameen first started playing chess as a hobby and gradually developed his skills through years of practice and competition. Today, he is a FIDE-rated chess player with a standard rating of 1775, placing him among the top-ranked active players in the Maldives, currently rated 6th highest.

Many of the same qualities that contribute to success in chess — strategic thinking, pattern recognition, adaptability, and long-term planning — also play an important role in Yameen’s work at Javaabu as a Machine Learning Research Engineer.

At Javaabu, Yameen contributes to AI and machine learning research initiatives focused on building intelligent systems and advancing innovative technology solutions. His achievement in chess reflects the analytical mindset and discipline that are equally valuable in the field of artificial intelligence.

The entire Javaabu team congratulates Ahmed Yameen on this outstanding accomplishment and wishes him continued success both in competitive chess and in his work advancing artificial intelligence research at Javaabu.
