Javaabu Co-Founder and CEO Mohamed Jailam appeared on “Hayaathun,” a weekly Dhaaris TV programme that features personalities in conversation about their life experiences, values, and personal journeys.
The episode aired on 22 May 2026 at 2:30 PM and featured a long-form interview of more than an hour, offering viewers a reflective look into Jailam’s childhood, education, early career, community work, and the journey that eventually led to the founding of Javaabu.
During the programme, Jailam spoke about his early memories growing up in his home island of GDh. Fiyoaree, and how curiosity played an important role in shaping his interests from a young age. He recalled developing a strong interest in science during school, visiting the National Library to access free internet, and beginning to build games after his father bought him a computer.
The conversation also covered Jailam’s school years, including his participation in oratory and debate teams, writing a science magazine, and engaging in student advocacy. He shared how he advocated for allowing beards at CHSE, reflecting on the experiences that helped build his confidence, communication skills, and sense of responsibility.
Jailam also discussed the freelance work he took on after school, as well as his professional experiences working at the High Court, Employment Tribunal, and television channels. These experiences, alongside his volunteering in dawah work, contributed to the multidisciplinary foundation that continues to shape his work in technology, education, and community service.
A key part of the interview focused on the story of Javaabu, including how the company began with Co-Founder and CTO Arushad Ahmed, how the name “Javaabu” was born, and what the early days of the company were like. Founded by two school friends, Javaabu has since grown into a leading Maldivian software firm working across AI, web, mobile, IoT, and digital transformation.
Jailam also reflected on the birth of Javaabu Academy and his belief that Muslims should strive to be skilled across many fields, not only in religious studies. He spoke about the importance of developing practical capabilities that benefit society, while also supporting religious NGOs and meaningful community initiatives.
The discussion later moved into artificial intelligence, where Jailam shared his views on the growing impact of AI and the importance of using it responsibly. As an advocate for responsible AI adoption in the Maldives, he highlighted the need for awareness, ethics, and careful use of emerging technologies in education, work, and public life.
Jailam also spoke about how DhivehiGPT came into being, connecting the platform’s development to Javaabu’s broader efforts to build locally relevant AI tools and strengthen the Dhivehi language technology ecosystem.
Towards the end of the interview, Jailam offered advice to young people, encouraging them to work with sincerity and to seek reward in the hereafter rather than focusing only on worldly recognition. His message emphasized purpose, service, and consistency as guiding principles for personal and professional growth.
Javaabu extends its appreciation to Dhaaris TV and the “Hayaathun” show team for hosting this meaningful conversation and for creating a platform that documents personal journeys, lessons, and experiences that can inspire the wider community.
