Javaabu CEO Mohamed Jailam Conducts AI Workshop at 8th International Teachers’ Conference

Javaabu Co-Founder and CEO Mohamed Jailam conducted a workshop on “Transforming Teaching and Learning with Artificial Intelligence” at the 8th International Teachers’ Conference on 12 September 2026. The conference, organized by the National Institute of Education (NIE), is being held from 12–13 September at Shaheedh Ali School in Hulhumale'.

This year’s conference is being held under the theme “Reimagine, Rethink, Reform: Advancing Innovation for an Equitable and Resilient Future,” bringing together educators and education professionals to exchange research, ideas, and practical approaches to some of the evolving challenges and opportunities in education.

The International Teachers’ Conference was established by NIE in 2012 with the aim of fostering a stronger culture of research and academic inquiry among teachers and education professionals. Held biennially, the conference provides a platform for educators to discuss challenges within the sector, explore practical solutions, share research, and exchange innovative approaches to improving teaching and learning.

The 8th edition of the conference is expected to feature more than 60 research papers alongside four specialized workshops, two panel discussions, and two keynote addresses. Its wider programme explores areas such as inclusive education, student engagement, the integration of modern technology in classrooms, and emerging areas including coding and robotics.

Jailam’s workshop contributed to this focus on technology and innovation by exploring how artificial intelligence can be incorporated into teaching and learning. During the session, he introduced participants to common AI tools and demonstrated ways educators can approach these technologies as practical tools to support their work.

The training also featured DhivehiGPT, Javaabu’s Dhivehi-language AI platform, highlighting the importance of locally relevant technologies alongside widely used general-purpose AI tools. The session gave educators exposure to the growing possibilities of artificial intelligence while placing its use within the practical realities of teaching in the Maldives.

The workshop builds on Javaabu’s continued engagement with educators on artificial intelligence and digital literacy. Earlier in 2026, Javaabu conducted a two-day AI professional development workshop for teachers at Iskandhar School, where participants received hands-on exposure to platforms including ChatGPT and Gemini, as well as DhivehiGPT for Dhivehi text generation, speech-to-text, and optical character recognition.

Jailam has been actively involved in AI education and awareness across the Maldives, conducting training programmes and sessions focused on the practical adoption of emerging technologies. Through engagements with educators, Javaabu continues to contribute towards strengthening digital literacy and building future-ready skills within the education sector.
