The second artificial intelligence (AI) training session under the Javaabu–Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was successfully held on 12 February 2026 at the Civil Service Training Institute.
The session was conducted for staff of the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works as part of the nationwide AI upskilling initiative aimed at strengthening digital capabilities across the Maldivian civil service. Minister Adam Shareef Umar also joined the session, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to innovation and responsible technology adoption.
The programme was facilitated by Mohamed Jailam, Co-Founder and CEO of Javaabu, together with Machine Learning Research Engineer Ahmed Yameen. The session combined strategic insights with hands-on demonstrations, providing participants with a practical understanding of current AI advancements and their applications within government operations.
Discussions focused on how generative AI can support administrative efficiency, assist in policy drafting, streamline documentation processes, and improve public service delivery. Participants also examined the ethical dimensions of AI adoption, including governance, accountability, and maintaining public trust while integrating emerging technologies into official workflows.
The interactive format allowed ministry officials to explore real-world use cases relevant to local government and public works, encouraging thoughtful dialogue on implementation strategies while ensuring that human oversight remains central to decision-making.
This second session further strengthens the partnership under the Javaabu–CSC MoU. Additional training sessions are scheduled in the coming months for other ministries, state institutions, and island councils across the Maldives, continuing the broader effort to build AI literacy and digital readiness throughout the civil service.
